Talkscape VoIP phone services

TALKSCAPE is a telephone service that provides either some or all of its communications over IP based networks such as private networks and the Internet. TALKSCAPE converts the voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that travels over the Internet then converts it back at the other end so you can speak to anyone with a regular phone number. Where a regular phone is called, the service then rejoins the public phone network.

Talkscape provides with the cheaper communication media as instead of the call traveling along the telephone company's network, the call is routed over alternative routes such as the Internet. The call goes over the Internet to the called party's local telephone company for the completion of the call. It is quite possible that if a TALKSCAPET call is placed from Melbourne to New York, the call will travel from Australia to the USA over the Internet and then jump back on to the phone network once it reaches New York. So in this way it is able to bypass the expensive phone company charges!

And it provides with the call quality which in most of the cases non distinguishable from a regular call to both users. With talkscape a user can call almost any phone number, anywhere in the world. The call can be made to a local number, a mobile phone, to a long distance number, or an international number. You may be able to use your TALKSCAPE service wherever you travel as long as you have a high speed Internet connection available. Talkscape service allows you to call anyone regardless of if you are calling a mobile phone, landline or another TALKSCAPET customer. But it is suggested to have a backup phone service in case your Internet connection goes down, then you won't be able to utilize it's services.

Other than the USB Phone, all other hardware will require an Ethernet connection. The phone can be an IP Phone or a regular phone that communicates via a gateway that we supply. The number is placed using the keyboard and is routed through the broadband modem. Optimally Talkscape utilizes about 24KB of bandwidth. If you are on a 1500K/256K ADSL connection, then the most bandwidth you could use is up to 256K. This would allow you to have up to 10 simultaneous calls, assuming there is no other downloading going on. However whilst this is the theoretical maximum, we would advise you to use only up to 6 calls so that there is some buffer. While calling user can use his PC simultaneously understanding the fact that heavy downloads might affect the call quality. A 10-minute call will download about 1.8mb. You should ensure that you have an Internet plan that takes this into account.

Though with Talkscape user has the facility of making emergency calls but however it is recommended not to use this facility, as Talkscape service is virtual, emergency services would not know where to locate you.
